Understanding of the effect and mechanism of hydrogen on fatigue performance of pipeline welded joints

This PhD project aims to investigate: (a) effect of pressure variations on fatigue performance of high-pressure hydrogen pipelines; (b) the inhibiting effect of oxygen on hydrogen effect on pipeline steel; (c) effect of load frequency on fatigue performance in hydrogen; (d) mechanism of material property degradation under cyclic load leading to predictive models for reducing conservativeness in design and operations.
