A pro-chancellor at Coventry University is one of fewer than 40 people across Warwickshire and the West Midlands to have been named in the Queen's New Year Honours list for 2016.
Mike Judge, from Rugby, has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to charity, to the University and to the community in Dunchurch in Warwickshire.
He becomes one of 472 people across the UK whose achievements have been recognised with an MBE in the latest New Year Honours list.
Mike has been a pro-chancellor at Coventry University since 2006.
He said:
There are a lot of deserving causes and people out there, and I am privileged to be involved with them. This award recognises them too. I am proud that the citation involves Coventry University.
